In speaking for myself. Yet, by your gracious patience,

I will a round unvarnish'd tale deliver . . ."

"Thank You, U.S.A."

A friend who has been following our Grenada adventure linked to two different views of the 1983 invasion/liberation of Grenada by the United States. As is true of any political issue or event, the citizens of Grenada are not of one mind when it comes to this defining moment in their history. However, in our conversations with Grenadians both on our first trip in 2002 and on this one, the prevailing mindset seems to be one of high regard and appreciation for Ronald Reagan's role in preserving Grenadian independence. Here's just one place on the island where that appreciation is fully evident:

The Wikipedia article that specifically addresses the invasion is actually fairly balanced (at least it is at this writing). It is worth noting that October 25, the date of the arrival of U.S. troops on the island, is an official national holiday still celebrated every year as "Thanksgiving Day."
