New Friends

Yesterday we were invited to a beach party barbecue! Some other guests at the cottages where we are staying, a couple from Virginia who are on their fourth trip to Grenada and who have stayed at Lance aux Epines every time, hosted the gathering for the staff and invited us to participate (I think we are the only other guests of the cottages right now). It was a lovely afternoon. We had great food and got to know our neighbors and the wonderful staff here a little better. It was also a treat to reconnect with Elsa, our housekeeper from our last stay (her sister Cecilia is our housekeeper this time around).

If you look closely you should be able to find Phil and Caitlin in this picture.

Trevor and Caitlin.

Our host Jerry is pictured here in the middle wearing a black shirt. Does that thatched roof canopy behind me remind you of anything? ("Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale . . . ")

The festivities were briefly interruped by some clueless water skiers who thought it might be fun to see if they could ski on the beach (seriously). The boat pulling them charted a path right through the waters in which we usually swim. Some of the staff mentioned seeing them do the same thing the day before. Tim, the owner of Lance aux Epines, shooed them away but when they persisted in staying in the area, he called the Coast Guard, who promptly responded. Here's a shot of the Coast Guard boat (closest craft in the picture's foreground) approaching the skiers (they and their boat are somewhat hidden in this shot).

A group shot at party's end. Jerry took this picture so he is not included. His wife Kris is in the front row, green shirt, second from right. Next to her on the end of the row is our housekeeper Cecilia. Elsa is right behind her on the end of the back row. Tim, the owner of Lance aux Epines, is in the blue shirt next to Phil in the back row.

One of the things Grenada is known for, and one of the reasons we wanted to come back, is the warmth and friendliness of the people. I think this photo says it all!

Hi Cheryl,
what a coincidence, that you would meet some other guests that I also know? I am referring to Kris in particular and her husband Jerry. Kris is one of the most prolific posters on TripAdvisor on Grenada topics and know Grenada quiet well. They are super great and I'm sure you all had a wonderful time. If you running into Kris again say hello for me.

Have fun and watch out for those stupid/crazy skiers
