". . . little shall I grace my cause

In speaking for myself. Yet, by your gracious patience,

I will a round unvarnish'd tale deliver . . ."

The Lutheran church in Congo is doing such wonderful work. The young lady reciting her catechism was taught be one of the vicars, who prepared her to recite the catechism for Pastor Mavoungu. I saw this young lady receive the gift a Bible the next day. Her joy was so overwhelming. She clapped her hands quickly and jumped up and down a couple of times. :)

I found out later that her father had died when she was young, and that her mother doesn't come to church very often - if at all. But this girl is there every Sunday and comes also during the week.

There is so much potential for the Gospel in Brazzaville. And yet this confessional Lutheran church body receives almost no support from the outside world. (They got $600 a year ago from the French, to help with one seminarian. They have 11 pastors in various stages of formation and struggle to provide for them on their own. I hope to see the LCMS stepping up and contributing to this ministry. Until then, congregations and inviduals can support the ELCC by sending a donation to Betuany Lutheran Church in Naperville, earmarked "Congo", or they can support confessional Lutheran missions such as this in general by donating to an organization called "Lutherans in Africa".)
