So now the President is starting to shut out the White House Press Corps when he feels like it. In its place there is a presidential YouTube station as well as a White House Facebook page, Twitter updates, and who knows what else. The president will say it's all about transparency and access. I say it's all about micro-managing the dissemination of information. Welcome to Obama Nation, or is that Abomination?

Haven't Presidents always shut out the press corps when they felt like it though?
The press aren't allowed in EVERY cabinet meeting and besides what do we REALLY miss out on from missing a few photos with the NCAA champions?
Those girls got a few minutes alone with the PRESIDENTt of the United States and I don't know...I think that's pretty cool.
It's easy for a lot of Americans to feel their government isn't accountable or accessible.
Firsthand information is hard to find or is on shows most people consider BORING.
Young people have been complaining about this for YEARS. But when the president, the PRESIDENT is using sites like Flickr and Facebook that young folks use several times a day, (direct and unfiltered) well...that's progress.
Jake Tapper's an okay reporter (and this is a blog post after all), but if he wants to hold the president accountable on transparency and access, why not question why it still takes so long for whitehouse.gov to post (some) new bills for public comment (assuming he hasn't already)?
Or the President's seeming reversal on the release of the "torture photos?"
But a photo op??? Eh...Nice post, but it won't matter to me next Tuesday...
