I heard the same thing in East Germany right after the Berlin Wall fell. And East Germany was not only a shambles economically, but a filthy, run-down shambles physically as well. If the people in Europe haven't learned their lesson, I wonder if Americans can. And I wonder where those of us who don't want socialism can go.
