Found Art

I think it has some real possibilities, don't you? I call it "Juice With Straw on Mantel."

If it's not art, well then, biology. (The teenagers are studying bacteria right now.)

The glass apparently sat there for several days. I never noticed it. Other people noticed but saw no reason to remove it. And as with all good art, there's actually a story here. Anyone wanna guess which member of the family is responsible for inadvertently creating this artistic moment? And what the back story is?

It had to have been one of The Teenagers. Evan's not tall enough yet, is he?

Think older, EC.

And you're right. It wasn't Evan.

Well, the straw in the cup does seem to indict Evan, since he's a fan of straws.

Perhaps I'd better not think too hard, eh? Don't want to implicate friends, now do we? :)

If this post had been written by me, I would be the culprit, and the glass would've been put there in the midst of something that involved my taking care of the family, and I would've forgotten to finish my drink, or even that it was there. It's also very likely that a couple hours after setting down the juice-glass, I would realize that I never finished, and I would spend 15 minutes looking all over the kitchen, the laundry room, the bathroom, and the bedroom, possibly even the living room, for the missing beverage ... and still not see it on the mantel.

But nobody at your house would ever do such a thing.

Susan, Susan, Susan. Are you suggesting that it was MY glass that was left on the mantel? Perish the thought! For your information, I don't use straws (unless I'm eating out).

No, there are only two people in this who regularly use straws. One of them is too short to set glass on the mantel. So of course, suspicion fell upon the other. Turned out that individual was innocent, though, and the one who accused was actually the culprit. Here are the applicable clues if you want to put it together:

1) Sick child convalescing on family room couch.
2) Mother tending to sick child
3) Mother who wouldn't remember to wear her hair out the door if it weren't stuck to her head.
4) Said mother even more frazzled than usual by circumstances of week.

'Nuff said. :-)

Cheryl, Cheryl. Be honest. Was that a list of clues, or was it finely crafted rationalization?
